UPENDO FOUNDATION PROFILE

BACKGROUND OF THE ORGANISATION UPENDO FOUNDATION has its roots from Umbwe High School in Kilimanjaro were its core founders met and shared their desire in making the world a better place. Just like many other youths must have had such dreams especially when they succeed in life, these young youths from Umbwe were quite the opposite; they saw no need to wait since life has no guarantee so they took their chances and agreed in working towards attaining their dream. As the idea was heard by some of their colleagues who persisted in being included in working towards the dream, founders found no need in isolating them as they believed the journey would be tough but together they could fight anything by just sharing an equal amount of strong bond of friendship. A campaign started in inviting all those who had such a dream and were persistence enough start NOW rather than later in life. The response was amazing! More than 25 fellow colleagues attended the first meeting held in the school’s premises which laid solid foundation that neither the founders nor the expected members had ever before dreamt of. The idea having being born during the final year (1 month before) of High school completion which seemed to many as the doom for it, on the contrary it turned out to be a GREAT opportunity. The 5 Founders were selected to continue pursuing the higher level education (University) and so were most of the first meeting attendees. During the time the Founders and some of the members were waiting for their High school results, they succeeded in doing 5 outreach programs in Kilimanjaro (Umbwe High School), Mwanza, Njombe, Dar es Salaam and Arusha region in which they came to share their experience with their new colleagues in their different colleges they had been selected to join. Fortunately their new colleagues supported the idea and started establishing Upendo Foundation associations in their respective colleges leading up to 10 branches opened across the country along with actively welcoming others to join, fund the course and fully participate in the various outreach programs that have been continually held in their respective regions, colleges and just about anywhere you are close to the going program. Since then the number has been increasing but so were the challenges which called for more joint effort in addressing them. WELCOME ONE WELCOME ALL!!
